The art of singing is a fulfilling one, being a full time guitarist, music teacher and vocal coach i have come across many students with such a burning desire to learn how to sing well and correctly but do not know how.
Many people are lucky enough to have a natural talent when it comes to using the voice for making music, but those not lucky enough to have this natural talent have to work just a little bit harder to achieve the same results.
It really does sadden me to see so many students who have such great potential give up due to frustration and lack of progress, however in my experience i have noticed that the students who have enough motivation to push over these obstacles often surprise themselves and continue on to have great successes.
So how do you learn to sing?
The answer is not as complex as it first may seem. There are four tips that can help you on your way.
1.Desire and a lot of it. You must have an absolute passion and drive for singing. You must believe in yourself enough to know that with enough time and practice you will become a great pitch perfect singer.
2.Practice. Self explanatory really… but what does practice really mean? It certainly does not mean mindless repetition, practice really means setting goals, working on areas that need improvement, understanding your voice and how it works and monitoring your progress.
3.Finding and using the correct information. this can be done in a number of ways. The best and often the most expensive way is to find a professional vocal teacher. If you are beginning a book or on line course may be the answer for now.
4.Immerse yourself with other singers. Somethings just cannot be taught methodically through teachers and courses. Sometimes you can pick up many new ideas and techniques on how to use your voice simply by being around other musically minded people.
I have seen many people fail, and i do not want you to be one of them. I truly believe anyone can sing exceptionally well if you learn how to sing correctly and practice the correct way. Doing this will lead to satisfaction and you will avoid a lot of backtracking.
If you are a beginner, i recommend singorama to students. Not only is it incredibly effective but it is also very inexpensive.
